
Mariska van Veen is Nurse Specialist of the Cleft Lip and Palate Team at Erasmus Medical Center-Sophia’s children’s hospital in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She was trained as a nurse in The Hague between 1994-1998. She has 18 years’ experience in paediatric nursing. She finished the Master’s Advanced Nursing Program, in Rotterdam, in 2009. Since that time she works for the Cleft Lip and Palate Team. She is member of the Dutch Association of Cleft Lip and Palate & Craniofacial Malformations: of the registration committee and the visitation committee as well. In the Cleft Lip and Palate Team she is co-chair with H.W.W. de Gier, MD ENT. From the beginning, when outcome measurement started, she was involved in the development and implementation of the ICHOM-dataset for this group of patients. As Nurse Specialist she has a coordinating role in care for these patients between all team members, nurses, healthcare providers in- and outside Sophia’s Children’s Hospital overall and to collect data for the ICHOM-dataset in particular.
